摘  要:Dear Editor,The subthalamic nucleus(STN)is a major component of the evolutionarily-conserved basal ganglia structures[1].While the beneficial effects of deep brain stimulation(DBS)of the STN on motor symptoms in patients with Parkinson's disease(PD)are indisputable,several non-motor symptoms can arise following DBS,including elevated depression and perception of fear in addition to altered sleep-wake parameters.
