摘　　要：音乐是一种符号资源或曰媒介,亦是一种模态。托尼·莫里森将其融入小说创作,乃成其小说的结构或主题,更成为其小说人物生存境遇之隐喻。她以布鲁斯构架其小说文本,既推动小说情节发展,亦揭示小说人物的命运;既体现黑人独特的文化传统,又引发读者的情感共鸣。同时,她也以爵士乐为小说谋篇布局,挖掘并重构黑人的文化与历史,生成、发挥和实现其文学潜能。她还引入交响乐构建其小说结构,奏响小说人物的人生交响曲,亦寄托其对黑人民族的深切同情与美好希望。音乐与文字这两种模态的结合,为文学创作提供了全新的契机,也为文学批评创造了更大的空间。作为多模态之一的音乐叙事,不仅参与小说文本建构,而且还与语言共同构建小说文本的意义。Music is a symbolic resource or medium,as well as a mode.Toni Morrison integrates it into her novel writing,so that music becomes the structure or theme of her novels,and a metaphor for the living situation of her characters.She uses blues to frame her novel,which promotes the plot development and reveals the fate of the characters in her novels;and which reflects the unique cultural tradition of black people and arouses the emotional resonance of readers as well.Meanwhile,she uses Jazz as her novel layouts to explore and reconstruct the culture and history of black people,generate,develop and realize her literary potentials.And she also introduces symphonies to construct the structure of her novels,playing the life symphony of the characters and expressing her deep sympathy and good hope for the black people.The two modes of music and words being combined,opens a new opportunity for literary writing,and creates more space for literary criticism.As one of the multimodes,music narrative participates in the construction of the novel texts and constructs the meaning of the text together with language.
