摘　　要：索尔·贝娄是美国杰出的文学家,其丰富的人生阅历、极具超前意识与批判精神的人文思想,对20世纪美国文学乃至世界文学均产生深厚的影响。索尔·贝娄的小说脍炙人口、发人深省,研究其小说中的人文主题具有积极的启发意义。文章从索尔·贝娄晚期小说中人文精神的缘由及体现、民族与人文精神、自由与人文精神三大层面入手,阐释索尔·贝娄晚期小说为人文而辩的主题。Saul Bellow is an outstanding American writer.His rich life experience,advanced consciousness and critical spirit of humanistic thought have a profound impact on American literature and even world literature in the 20 th century.Saul Bellow’s novels are well known and thought provoking,and it is of positive significance to study the humanistic themes in his novels.This article starts from three aspects:the cause and embodiment of humanistic spirit,national and humanistic spirit,freedom and humanistic spirit in Saul Bellow’s late novels,and explains the theme of Saul Bellow’s late novels arguing for humanity.
