摘  要:斯蒂芬·达根是20世纪国际教育领域著名的教育家和社会活动家。他创立美国国际教育协会,一生致力国际教育事业,被称为“国际主义的使徒”。达根基于实用主义哲学,以促进国际理解为宗旨,形成其独特的国际教育理念。他倡导国际教育应以学生和学者为主体,通过人员跨境交流、文化产品交流、国际意识传播等方式来实现。达根注重完善国际教育交流项目管理,构筑全球国际教育交流渠道,并积极参与政府对外文化关系决策。在他的努力下,国际教育协会得到美国联邦政府的认可,成为教育交流领域的权威组织。美国国际教育交流朝着规范化、专业化的方向发展。Stephen Duggan is a famous educator and social activist in the field of international education in the 20th century.He founded Institute of International Education and devoted himself to international education.Duggan formed his own international education concept under the guidance of pragmatism with the aim to promote international understanding.He advocated that international education should be realized through cross-border exchanges,cultural product exchange,international awareness dissemination with students and scholars as the main body.He focused on improving the management of international educational exchange programs,strived to build global international educational exchange channels and participated in the official decision on foreign cultural relations.Under his efforts,Institute of International Education was recognized by American Government and became an authoritative organization in the field of educational exchange.American international education became more standardized and professional.
