摘 要:创作于1934—1935年间的比利时漫画《蓝莲花》是《丁丁历险记》系列中发生在上海的故事,由漫画家埃尔热和在布鲁塞尔学习西方美术的上海留学生张充仁合作完成。本文认为《蓝莲花》中传达出不同文化间的互相理解是其长久生命力和价值所在。现有《丁丁历险记》和《蓝莲花》的研究对于埃尔热和张充仁的相遇及其影响方面或过度神秘化、或稍显简单化。本文结合历史背景和文学语境,以声援抗战、打破既定刻板印象两个特点为例,深入分析埃尔热和张充仁的跨文化对话对作品产生的影响。漫画内容进一步反映出了两人在合作过程中深入交流的长远意义:不仅沟通了新知,更促成了从彼方看待问题的新视角。创作于跨文化对话的基础上,《蓝莲花》成为了向其读者传达文化尊重和包容之观念的媒介,影响至今。The Blue Lotus,an episode set in Shanghai of the popular Belgian comic,The Adventures of Tintin,was the result of a collaboration in 1934-35 between Hergé,its creator,and Zhang Chongren,a Shanghai-born art student in Brussels.This paper demonstrates that the key legacy of the comic is its message calling for mutual understanding between different cultures.Despite the considerable amount of literature on The Blue Lotus thanks to the popularity of Tintin,the existing research tends to either mystify or simplify the Hergé-Zhang encounter and its attendant influences.Taking a more contextualized approach to engage the immediate historical and literary background of the comic,this paper focuses on how a cross-cultural dialogue between Hergéand Zhang contributed to the two significant features in The Blue Lotus:raising a voice against injustice in the contemporary Sino-Japanese conflict,and breaking the established framework of cultural stereotypes.It shows that the collaborators’in-depth conversation about different cultures and civilizations functioned not only to provide new knowledge,but also to facilitate an understanding from others’perspectives,with a further analysis of the comic itself to verify this impact.Created on the foundation of a cross-cultural dialogue,this comic in turn became a medium to promote the idea of cultural respect and tolerance to readers of Tintin,which is still relevant today.
