闽南地域文化元素的英译策略研究——以林语堂小说《赖柏英》为例

摘　　要：为考查文学作品中方言的英译策略,以林语堂《赖柏英》中的闽南方言词为研究对象,借助《闽南方言大词典》等相关工具书与艾克西拉对文化专有项的11种翻译策略,将原文中的闽南方言划分为称谓、俗语、地方特有表达用语3类。通过文本考查发现,林语堂倾向于保留方言的地域文化特征:使用转换拼写(音译)或者语言(非文化)翻译(直译)的翻译方式,再配合文内注释或括号注释或破折号注释,极力保留方言词的声音及其文化负载词的指示意义,使小说充满浓郁的方言特色。To find out effective ways of translating dialects in literary works,this paper gives a deep study to the south Min dialect used in Juniper Loa with the help of the South Min Dialect Dictionary and the ll translation techniques targeted at cultural elements proposed by Aixel a.In this article the words of the south Min dialect in Juniper Loa are divided into three types:appellations,idioms and region-specific expressions.The textual analyses show that Lin Yutang tended to retain the regional and cultural characteristics of dialects in translation,that is,he often applied transliteration and literal translation combined with in-text annotation,parenthesis annotation or dashes annotation,so as to keep the original sound and cultural connotation of words.Therefore,his translations are full of strong regional dialect characteristics.
