摘 要:受全球新冠疫情影响,明德中文暑校在2020年和2021年在线开展暑期密集项目。本文将这两年学生学习动机的相关数据进行对比,探讨汉语学习者逐步适应线上教学后遇到的挑战,同时也针对后疫情时代如何有效开展网课进行讨论。本研究发现,与网课新手相比,学生在适应网课形式或者长时间持续网课学习之后,在维系学习动机方面遇到了更大挑战。其中,不易解决的屏幕疲劳以及对于教师反馈有更高需求是重要影响因素。有网课经验的学生对自我在线学习能力的评估整体下降,成熟的汉语学习者更倾向于通过实现短期的学习目标来获得学习成就感。同侪互动和社区归属感的缺失对他们学习动机的影响相对较小。Middlebury Summer Language School(Chinese)offered its summer intensive language program online in 2020 and 2021 due to the pandemic.Through comparing the motivation construction of the participants in these two years,the paper discusses what motivational challenges mature online Chinese learners face and how to efficiently conduct online Chinese instruction in post-pandemic era.The study finds that compared with inexperienced online Chinese learners,students experienced more challenges in maintaining their motivation after adapting to the online class format or continuing to learn online for a longer period of time.Among them,continuing screen fatigue and their high expectation for instructors’feedback are important factors.The study also suggests that experienced online language learners have an overall lower self-evaluation of their online learning ability.Mature online Chinese learners are more inclined to gain a sense of achievement by achieving short-term learning goals.Meanwhile,the lack of peer interaction and a sense of community does not impact experienced online learners as much as it does to the inexperienced ones.
