摘 要:以安徽省31所公办本科高校为研究对象,利用语义对等原则,对通名和地名及师范、理工、医药等专名的校名英译进行分析发现,校名英译能够在源语言和目的语之间实现对等。为了避免出现盲目拔高或自我矮化现象,教育主管部门应建立英译规范标准,而高校应根据中西方文化差异和学校特色,合理灵活翻译。Through the principle of semantic equivalence,this paper analyzes the English translation of the names of 31 public undergraduate universities in Anhui Province,including their general names,place names,and other specific names like teachers,science and technology,medicine and so on.The results show that English translation of school names can achieve equivalence between source language and target language.In the translation of the school names,education authorities should establish a standard for the translation to avoid the phenomenon of blind promotion or self-dwarfing while colleges and universities should refer to their school characteristics and the cultural differences between China and the West when translating.
