The objective of this study is to explore the influence of badminton game and conventional physical activity on the perceptual motor ability of 5-6 year old children, and to compare the differences between the two types of activity. The 5-6 year old children were selected from Hengyang Normal University kindergarten and randomly divided into an experimental group(n=31)and a control group(n=28),badminton game and conventional physical activities were implemented respectively for 12 weeks, and the perceptual motor ability was compared between the groups. The results showed that badminton game activity could better promote the development of perceptual motor ability of 5-6 year old children than conventional physical activity. The improvement of footeye coordination ability was more obvious, and the improvement of other dimensions of perceptual motor ability was very obvious. We suggest that when organizing badminton game activities for young children, the goals of technical standards and competitive ability should be weakened, and stimulating experience and smooth complete movements should be emphasized.
