摘 要:17世纪英国诗人乔治·赫伯特往往被归类为玄学派诗人。但是,"玄学派"这一概括性的称谓并不能准确而充分地诠释赫伯特的诗歌特点和他本人的诗学观念。本文从诗歌主题、诗歌语言和诗歌本质这三方面出发探讨他的诗学观,说明他在诗歌创作中坚持单一的主题和质朴的语言,以真情实感书写宗教体验,把拉近人与上帝的距离视为诗歌的本质。他与同时代擅长奇喻、追求巧智的玄学派诗人有着显著区别。The 17th-century English poet George Herbert is usually classified as a"metaphysical poet."However,the word"metaphysical"is neither adequate nor accurate to describe the characteristic of his poetry and poetic view.This essay attempts to discuss Herbert's view on poetic writing based on the aspects of theme,language and the nature of poetry,so as to illustrate that he insists on one simple theme and uses plain language,which is quite different from the contemporary metaphysical poets who are skilled in conceit and paradox and who try to show off their"wit."Herbert's special poetic view is an important reason why his poetry was widely accepted in the 17th century.
