摘　　要：中世纪晚期英国诗人约翰·高尔的代表作《情人的忏悔》第六卷阐论暴食之罪,其“醉酒—佳肴—巫术”结构的叙事连贯性受到学界关注。高尔暴食书写的文内证据指向了香料的异邦性,诗人笔下的香料与异地习惯、异教巫术和外国商人等“异邦”属性有关。从新历史主义的路径看,香料异邦性的书写折射出中世纪晚期英国香料消费普遍化趋势下的文化动态:对当地习惯的坚持反映出黑死病疫后一代的心理设防;对巫魔幻术的引入反映出性爱与宗教的联动效应;对外国商人的排斥反映出商业本土意识的涌动。高尔的香料批判具有高度的社会时效性,成为英国香料消费与饮食文化变迁的历史实证。The sixth book of the late medieval English poet John Gower's Confessio Amantis is a narrative verse exposition on gluttony,whose trichotomous narration of"Drunkenness-Delicacy-Sorcery"has attracted much scholarly attention.The internal proofs insinuate a spice criticism highlighting alienness,specifically connected to alien custom,pagan sorcery,and foreign merchants.Approached from the perspective of New Historicism,the alienness of spice under Gower's pen has reflected the cultural dynamics of the popularizing spice consumption in late medieval England.The trendy cultural dynamics denote a defensive mentality of the then post-Black-Death generation,a close associative cognition of sexual love and religious belief,and an emerging protective sense of native commerce shed through the exclusive attitude towards foreign merchants.Gower's spice criticism in its timeliness serves as a historical witness for spice consumption and diet evolution in England.
