摘　　要：约瑟夫·康拉德的文化身份一直以来是学界争议的焦点。然而,无论如何争议,康拉德的英国人的公民身份是无可置疑的,但其特殊之处在于,他是一个具有人类意识的波兰裔英国人,是“一位全球化的世界公民”。首先,出于对英国海洋文化传统的热爱,康拉德选择成为一名英国人,一名英国作家,从而拥有了让自己骄傲的英国人的文化身份;其次,作为一个外来文化的闯入者,康拉德在英国依然是一个文化流浪者,一个有着多种文化印记的英国人;此外,多年穿梭于陆地和海洋、东方和西方之间的生活,形成了康拉德多元文化意识和人类意识,使得康拉德并不像英国传统冒险作家那样,鼓吹英国帝国主义的正当性与白人的优越性,而是以跨文化的视角书写人类共同的故事。The cultural identity of Joseph Conrad has always been the focus of controversy in Conradian studies.However,no matter how controversial Conrad􀆳s identity is,his English citizenship is indisputable.The distinctive uniqueness of Conrad is that he is a Polish English with human-consciousness,“a global citizen of the world.”Firstly,due to his ardent love of British marine culture tradition,Conrad chose to become an English man,thereafter an English writer,which hence granted him English cultural identity that he was quite proud of.Secondly,as a cultural intruder,Conrad was still a cultural wanderer in Britain,that is,an English with multiple cultural imprints.Thirdly,many years of life shuttling between land and sea,East and West as a sailor enabled Conrad to form a multicultural consciousness and human-consciousness which thus made him quite distinctive from traditional English imperial romance writers who had advocated the rightness of British imperialism and the superiority of White race.This then provided Conrad a cross-cultural awareness to write the story of all human beings.
