摘　　要：在其获誉无数的畅销书《大转向:世界如何步入现代》中,斯蒂芬·格林布拉特讲述了一个关于失落与寻回的故事:古罗马诗人卢克莱修的长诗《物性论》的抄本在消失千年后,如何于15世纪初被人文主义者波焦重新发现?其蕴含的原子论等思想如何帮助引发了现代性?该书在获奖不断的同时也引发了诸多争议。这部影响力极大的作品回归了一种关于西方现代性的宏大叙事,与文艺复兴人文主义者的观点不谋而合。In his much-acclaimed bestseller,The Swerve:How the World Became Modern,Stephen Greenblatt presents a story about loss and retrieval.The book tells how the Roman poet Lucretius’s De Rerum Natura was rediscovered by the humanist book-hunter Poggio Bracciolini in the early fifteenth century after a thousand years of oblivion and how the atomist theories contained in the poem then catalyzed the modern world.As the book won numerous prestigious prizes,it has also invoked critical responses.As an influential work,The Swerve opts for a conventional grand narrative about modernity in the West,a view upheld by the early modern humanists themselves.
