朱丽叶的自我探索——对《机缘》的空间叙事学解读

摘　　要：艾丽斯·门罗在其短篇小说《机缘》中,通过空间意象、空间冲突和空间形式上的创新,具象化地呈现了女主人公朱丽叶所面临的困境及其开展的自我探索。作为空间意象的火车内的混乱世界呈现了朱丽叶无法摆脱的现实困境;三种空间对立体现了朱丽叶与陌生自杀者、与艾罗、与埃里克之间的冲突,塑造了她的反叛形象;叙事分岔点、记忆的空间性及环形叙事结构三种空间形式展现了朱丽叶从冲突走向自我救赎的过程。借助其独特的空间叙事技巧,门罗以更为具体和直观的方式呈现了女性复杂的内心世界,揭示她们如何在纷繁复杂的日常生活中处理自己与世界的关系,最终作出自己的选择。The short story Chance by Alice Munro,a Canadian writer,is a presentation of women's self-exploration out of the predicaments they are faced with in modern times.The chaotic internal world of the train presents the realistic dilemma from which Juliet cannot escape;the three spatial oppositions reflect the conflicts between Juliet and the suicider,Alio and Eric,and portray the rebellious image of the heroine;the spatial forms of narrative bifurcation,the spatiality of memory and the circular narrative structure show Juliet's awakening process of her female consciousness from predicament to self-salvation.With her innovation in spatial narrative techniques,Munro presents the complex inner world of women in a more concrete and visual way,and reveals how they deal with their relationship with the world in everyday life,and finally make their own choices.
