摘　　要：The widely read essay"Jianzhuke Shu"was originallya memorandum submitted by Li Si(died 208 BC)to Ying Zheng(reign:246-210 BC),then emperor of the Qin State.As recorded in Biographies of Li Si,Records of the Grand Historian,the piece was later excerpted to become an individual article.Composed on the occasion of Li Si's expulsion by the Qin ruler,the essay is an excellent piece of reasoning,so well-argued and coherent that the king eventually withdrew his order and reappointed Li.Sixteen years later,when the Qin State unified the entire country,Ying Zheng made Li Si his prime minister.
