摘 要:诺贝尔文学奖得主奈保尔以其复杂而矛盾的女性观、传统保守却又具有超时代的特质区别于其他作家。奈保尔在半自传体小说《抵达之谜》中塑造了“无声中抗争”的布伦达、“有声但无我”的菲利普斯太太以及“有声且自主”的安杰拉三种典型女性形象。奈保尔将自身的经历与价值观融入这些女性角色的建构中,描绘了她们迥然不同的性格与命运,展现了自身女性观的演变过程。V.S.Naipaul,the winner of Nobel Prize in Literature in 2001,is distinguished from other writers for his conflicted and complex view on women,conservative but time-transcendence characteristics.The images of the female characters in his semi-autobiography The Enigma of Arrival are significantly representative.These typical female images created in this novel are generally classified into three categories:“resistance in silence”,“unconsciousness in the sound”,as well as“independence in the sound”.Naipaul merged his own life experience into the creation of these female characters,depicting their diverse personality and destiny,which demonstrated the evolution of his view on women.
