隐喻机制与转喻机制的共通性探究——以汉语新闻热词英译为例  

On Convertibility between Metaphoric Mechanism and Metonymic Mechanism——From the Perspective of Chinese News Hot Words

摘　　要：隐喻和转喻不仅是修辞手段,更是思维方式和认知机制,两者存在于人类生活的方方面面,为人们认知、理解、体验未知的、抽象的事体提供了便利。论文结合汉语新闻热词的特点,根据翻译过程中的隐喻性(对应性、解释性、创造性、文化性)和转喻性(部分与部分、部分与整体之间的替代关系),从宏观和微观两个层面探究了隐喻机制和转喻机制在汉语新闻热词英译中的共通性。经探究发现,两种机制具有的共同特征是凸显某些信息,这为英译某些具有独特文化色彩的新闻热词提供了可靠的思路。Metaphor and metonymy are not only the rhetorical means,but also the thinking methods and the cognitive mechanism.They serve human beings mentally well and are good and helpful for their functions of facilitating people to perceive,understand and experience new things.Based on the characteristics of Chinese news hot words and according to the features of metaphoric mechanism(correspondence,explanation,creativity,culture)and metonymic mechanism(part for part,part for whole,whole for part),the paper discusses the convertibility between metaphoric mechanism and metonymic mechanism in translation process.It concludes that highlighting certain information in translation is their common characteristic and the finding is useful for translating some news hot words with unique Chinese culture into English.
