英博本《坛经》英译研究

摘　　要：《坛经》版本众多,目前多数都已译为英文,有的版本甚至出现多个英译本,充分证明这部典籍巨大的文化价值和思想魅力,已得到西方学者和读者的认可。文章集中探讨《坛经》敦煌系统本中英博本的英译史,涉及铃木大拙的节译、陈荣捷的首译和扬波斯基的复译,三位译者来自三个不同的国度,其身份和文化背景迥异,使他们的译本呈现出不同的特色,这为中国典籍英译带来启示。There are many versions of The PlatformSutra,and most of themhave been translated into English.Some versions even have multiple English translations,fully proving the enormous cultural value and ideological charmof this classic,which has been recognized by Western scholars and readers.This paper focuses on the history of English translation of the Dunhuang systemof The PlatformSutra,involving the excerpts of D.T.Suzuki,the first translation of Wing-tsit Chan,and the retranslation of Yampolsky.The three translators come fromthree different countries,and their identities and cultural backgrounds are very different,which makes their translations show different characteristics,which brings enlightenment to the English translation of Chinese classics.
