摘　　要：通过文献梳理和实验研究,文章认为拼音字母o的读音应该是[■]。而有些人认为o读“欧”,这是受到了英语字母读法的影响;认为读“窝”是受到唇音声母后形式为单韵母o的实际读音影响。单韵母o在普通话中不能稳定存在。汉语拼音中唇音与o直接拼合的音节其韵母并非是开口呼的o,而是uo省写了u韵头,属于合口呼。其中的u非但不是唇音声母与o的过渡,而且有向韵腹发展的倾向。这种看似不尽合理的拼写形式,有其历史原因,也是拼音设计省略原则的结果。The correct pronunciation of the letter‘o’in Chinese Pinyin should be[ɔ]according to our experimental results and the literature review.[ou]is a wrong pronunciation which is affected by the pronunciation of English letter o.[uo]is wrong as well due to the pronunciation of the final after labials.There is no real monophthong[o]in Putonghua.The syllables,which are combined with labials and o,are omitted‘u’in spelling form and belong to the close-mouth finals instead of open-mouth finals.The‘u’part is developing to syllable nuclear now.The spelling forms have their historical reasons and are the results the principle of omission in Pinyin as well.
