报纸言论场的初兴:晚清杨月楼案中的《申报》

摘　　要：《申报》报道杨月楼案的方式几经变化,每一次变化都推动了事件的进展。《申报》的行动本身影响了杨月楼案如今所呈现的面貌。《申报》以崭新的方式组织和呈现社会对杨月楼案的意见和言论,近代报纸介入社会言论场,使得社会言论场以一种新的方式被扰动、呈现和感知。这也使得杨月楼案成为地方群体、上海知县、上海道台、英国驻上海领事、英国驻华公使甚至是恭亲王都交涉其中的政治事件。这些交涉又进一步影响了《申报》议论杨月楼案所采取的位置、姿态和方式。杨月楼案呈现出来的早期《申报》这一商业性报纸所采取的特殊论政方式,也有助于理解“文人论政”的历史复杂性和丰富性。In this article,Shen Bao,which was then a type of new media,is not viewed as a passive recorder but an active participator.It showed new ways of organizing and presenting discourse,which influenced the process and consequence of the Yang Yuelou case.Shen Bao's coverage of the case provided a perspective to see the formation of the public sphere as the consequence of the rise of the printing press.In other words,the case is a phenomenon of the modern world.Due to different perceptions of the public sphere in its modern sense,the case led to diplomatic conflicts,further defining the newspaper's reporting on the case in terms of its methods,strategies,and stance.This article maintains the longheld understanding of Shen Bao as a commercial paper.It presents the complexity of sustaining and boosting its business.This business closely relied on its extensive involvement in political topics.Hence this case provides a new understanding of"political commentaries by the literati",which was one of the main characteristics of modern Chinese newspapers.
