计算机术语的构词与英译——以《世纪汉英大辞典》(上、下卷)中计算机术语为例

摘　　要：如今,计算机的运用体现在社会的各行各业,大量与计算机相关的术语应运而生。本文以吴光华主编的《世纪汉英大辞典》(上、下卷)中的计算机术语为语料,分析其构词特点及英译过程中采用的翻译方法,并将该词典中的计算机术语与《汉英大词典》(第3版)、《新世纪汉英大词典》(第2版)以及《计算机科学技术名词》(第3版)的译文进行对比。研究发现,该词典中的计算机术语分布领域较广,语义较为抽象,以偏正式复合词为主,采取直译为主、意译为辅的英译方法,但部分术语的译名不够简洁,存在不统一和误译的现象,有待完善。Nowadays,computers are used in all walks of life in society,thus leading to the emergence of many computing terminologies.Based on the computing terminologies in The Century Chinese⁃English Dictionary(Vol.Ⅰ,Ⅱ)compiled by Wu Guanghua,this paper tries to analyze their word formation and translation.Meanwhile,this paper compares the translation of the computing terminologies in The Century Chinese⁃English Dictionary with those in The Chinese⁃English Dic⁃tionary(3rd Edition),New Century Chinese⁃English Dictionary(2nd Edition)and Chinese Terms in Computer Science and Technology(3rd Edition).It is found that the terminology in The Century Chinese⁃English Dictionary is widely distributed with abstract meanings.They are mainly subordinate compounds.The translation method adopted is mainly literal translation sup⁃plemented by free translation.However,some translation names are verbose,inconsistent,and even incorrect,which all need to be improved.
