摘　　要：连贯是语篇的重要属性,是语篇分析的重要内容。目前,大多数研究者把语篇视为“已完成的产品”(finished products),采用“点到点”(point-to-point)的方法,从词汇衔接的视角来分析语篇的连贯性。而Sinclair(1993)强调语篇的解读过程(process of reading),并且提出了封装与预示两种描写语篇连贯的技术。遗憾的是,Sinclair的思想并没有引起学界的普遍关注,相关讨论与应用研究都很少。本研究首先阐释了Sinclair有关语言交际具有线性和交互性特征的论述,从理论上解释了他为何提出“当下文本”(the text of the moment)以及以句子作为分析语篇连贯的基本单位的思想。其次,选择英汉各一篇文本,重点描述了封装与预示的具体实现路径,充分验证了Sinclair语篇连贯分析技术的可行性和有效性,并且在某种程度上丰富了技术实现的方法和路径。另外,在数据分析的基础上,找到汉英文本在语篇连贯方式上的异同。研究结果对于开拓语篇连贯研究新范式以及汉英写作教学具有一定的启示。Coherence is an important trait of written discourse,and thus an important research topic for discourse analysis.At present,most researchers view discourses as"finished products",mainly using lexical cohesion to analyze coherence in discourse,which is regarded as a"point-to-point"approach.But Sinclair(1993)pointed out that discourses should be viewed as a process of reading,and proposed two major techniques for describing coherence in written discourse,namely encapsulation and prospection.However,his views on discourse coherence did not evoke a widespread response among scholars.The present paper firstly elucidates Sinclair's arguments about the linear and interactive quality of language,based on which he proposed his views of"the text of the moment"and of sentences as basic analytic units for discourse coherence.Secondly,this paper introduces the two descriptive techniques and applies them to the contrastive analysis of discourse coherence between Chinese and English written texts.This analysis not only validates the feasibility and effectiveness of the two descriptive techniques but also finds some new methods for employing the techniques.What's more,it detects the similarity and difference in discourse coherence between Chinese and English.The research results have some implications for discourse coherence studies and teaching writing.
