In the previous book collection of Li Shengduo at Peking University, the Japaneng raveded it ions of canonical texts such as Huian Xiansheng Zhu Wengong Yishuo(Explanations of the Book of Changes by Master Huian Zhu Wen), Yixue Qimeng Tongshi(Enlightening Annotations on the Study of the Book of Changes), Zhouyi Benyi Fulu Zuanzhu(Supplementary Appendix to the Original Meaning of the Book of Changes), Zhouyi Benyi Tongshi(Elucidation of the Original Meaning of the Book of Changes), Shuji Zhuanzuan Shu(Commentaries on the Classics in Collected Works), Shijizhuan Mingwu Chao(Annotations on the Names and Objects in the Collection of Poetry), and Sishu Zuanshu(Collected Commentaries on the Four Books) are based on Tongzhitang Jingjie(Tongzhi Hall Explanations of the Classics)of the Qing Dynasty, Dadai Liji(Dai De's Book of Rites) is based on Wuyingdian Juzhenban Congshu(Wuying Hall Rare Book Series), and Chunqiu Jingzhuan Jijie(Spring and Autumn Commentaries on the Classics) with Chunqiu Minghao Guiyi Tu(Unified Chart of Names and Titles in the Spring and Autumn Period) and Chunqiu Nianbiao(Chronology of the Spring and Autumn Period) is based on the reproduction of early Yuan Dynasty's Xiangtai Yue's Family Jingxi Private Academy by Wuying Hall in the 48th year of Emperor Qianlong's reign, and Jingzhuan Shici(Explanatory Glossary of the Classics) is based on Qing Jing jie(Qing Dynasty Explanations of the Classics). Behind the connection between these Japan-engraved editions and their master copies lies the profound historical background of book circulation between China and Japan in modern times, as well as the intellectual interests and academic trends that influenced book printing and publishing of Edo period sinology in Japan.
