摘　　要：中国古代科技术语在科学范式、语符表征、哲学思想等方面均与西方科技术语存有较大差异,此类术语英译需要呈现这种差异性。因此,十分有必要考察中国古代科技术语的本有内涵,概念溯源有助于探寻源术语的本源意涵。本文探讨概念溯源对于中国古代科技术语英译的必要性,并探究概念溯源的方式。研究发现,这些方式主要包括:借助概念本源追溯;借助语义理据追溯;依据概念系统关联追溯。Ancient Chinese science and technology terms differ greatly from western ones in scientific paradigm,linguistic semiotic characterization and philosophical thought.These differences are supposed to be retained in English translation of such terms.It is,therefore,crucial to take account of the original connotation of ancient Chinese science and technology terms,to which conceptual-original tracing can lend a helping hand.This paper explores the necessity of such efforts and the ways in which conceptual origins of such terms can be traced.The study found that these approaches can be used in this regard involve exploring the authentic concepts,investiga-ting the linguistic clues and researching conceptual systematic connections.
