摘　　要：18世纪的壮游文学探讨了旅行对绅士身份的影响。一方面,绅士能借旅行增长世界学识,提升内在趣味,锻炼社交技能,使自我趋于完美;另一方面,绅士在旅行中常陷入过度消费,热衷商业化的鉴赏家趣味,甚至纵情享乐,在消费与娱乐中背离了理想的道德身份。作为英国性的典型符号,绅士应成为了解世界事务、关心人类福祉的世界公民,同时需展现英国人的传统道德与民族性格,在英国性建构中,容纳世界普遍性与民族独特性。18th-century travel writing delves into the impact of the Grand Tour on the identity of gentlemen.The Grand Tour offers gentlemen the opportunity to enrich their knowledge of the world,elevate their judgment and taste,and polish their social skills,all in the pursuit of personal perfection.However,gentlemen often succumb to excessive consumption during their travels,acquire connoisseurship without a firm foundation,and occasionally indulge in hedonistic pleasures.Therefore,they stray from their ideal moral identity under the influence of consumption and entertainment.Envisaged as citizens of the world,gentlemen should remain attuned to world affairs and show concern for the well-being of the global humanity.Concurrently,gentlemen are tasked with embodying moral values that reflects distinct national character.This fusion reflects an Englishness that encompasses both cosmopolitanism and English traits.
