摘　　要：《夜幕降临》是迈克尔·坎宁安于2011年发表的小说。在小说中,他将迷人的叙述艺术、诙谐诗意的语言、深刻细腻的心理描写交织在一起,道出了主人公皮特的生活追求,也呈现出中年人的生活困境。小说中有很多关于美和艺术的描写,这些描写一方面使得人物形象更加丰满,故事内容更加丰富,另一方面将美和艺术融入生活,美的消逝最终导致了生活的悲剧,使小说具有更深刻的思想内涵。坎宁安在小说中展现了一种非功利的艺术审美的生存方式,探讨了现实生活与艺术理想的关系。事实上,艺术和生活不能完全相融,生活艺术化只是一种理想的生活状态,而不是摆脱现实生活困境的出路。By Nightfall is a novel published by Michael Cunningham in 2011.In this novel,he interweaves fascinating narrative art,witty and poetic language,profound and delicate psychological descriptions to reveal the life pursuit of the protagonist Peter and the dilemma of middle-aged people.There are many depictions of beauty and art in the novel.On the one hand,these descriptions make the character image fuller and the story content richer.On the other hand,beauty and art are integrated into life,and the disappearance of beauty eventually leads to the tragedy of life,making the novel have a deeper ideological connotation.In this novel,Michael Cunningham shows how the art aesthetics survives through a non-utilitarian way and discusses the relationship between real life and artistic ideals.Actually,art and life cannot be completely integrated.The art of life is an ideal state of life,rather than a way to solve the dilemma of real life.
