How to Use IELTS Reading to Promote College Students’ English Core Competencies

摘　　要：教材是核心素养教学改革中的关键一环,目前针对英语学科核心素养培养的大学英语教材还没有到位。通用大学英语教材课文主要为语言学习服务,是TALO型文本,其中有很多不利于培养学习者语言能力、思维品质、文化品格、学习能力的地方。雅思阅读语篇注重语言作为信息传递工具的作用,是TAVI型文本,语法和句法学习不是最重要的教学目标,可作为现有通用大学英语教材的有益补充,帮助提高学习者的英语学科核心素养。Teaching materials are a key part of the teaching reform of core competencies,but college English teaching materials for core competencies of the English subject is not yet in place.General college English text⁃books mainly serve the purpose of language learning.They are TALO type texts,with a small academic vocabulary and a single form of practice.There are many disadvantages to improving learners’language ability,thinking quality,cultural character,and learning ability.IELTS reading texts,as TAVI type texts,emphasize the role of lan⁃guage as a tool for information transmission,and syntactic and lexical learning is not their most important goal,so they can be used as a useful supplement to existing general college English textbooks and assist in improving learners’core competencies of the English subject.
