创新竞争与企业高质量创新模式选择——来自专利被无效宣告的经验证据

摘　　要：作为重要创新激励机制的创新竞争是企业选择高质量创新模式的关键因素,也是我国经济在保持中高速增长基础上持续健康发展的基本保障。本文以专利被无效宣告衡量创新竞争并以企业创新突破度衡量创新质量,探讨创新竞争如何促使企业选择高质量创新模式。研究发现:(1)专利被无效宣告后,企业创新突破度显著提高且具有持续性,说明创新竞争能促使企业选择高质量创新模式。(2)提高高管创新激励水平与调整创新投资策略在上述关系中发挥了中介作用,说明创新竞争通过高管创新激励机制与创新投资策略机制促进企业选择高质量创新模式。(3)上述关系主要体现在创新风险较小组、创新能力较强组以及专利质量较高组,说明创新风险较小、创新能力较强以及专利质量较高的企业在面对创新竞争时会选择高质量创新模式。(4)专利被无效宣告显著提高了企业风险水平、降低了企业多元化经营程度以及融资能力,但选择高质量创新模式不仅能削弱其负面影响而且能对企业产生长期积极影响,说明选择高质量创新模式是应对激烈创新竞争的根本举措。本文研究有助于丰富二元创新模式以及创新竞争相关领域的研究。High⁃quality innovation plays an important role in strategic support for Chinese modernization and high⁃quality economic development,and it is also the driving force to seize the strategic commanding heights and achieve national self⁃improvement and rejuvenation amid global changes of a magnitude not seen in a century.In the context of the US'innovation race against China and the increasingly prominent problem of“stranglehold”in science and technology,it is the inevitable choice for Chinese enterprises to achieve sustained and high⁃quality innovation.However,the available evidence shows that Chinese enterprises still tend to choose low⁃quality innovation mode that emphasizes the quantity of innovation.It is particularly important to explore what factors can encourage firms to choose high⁃quality innovation strategies.Innovation competition may be a key factor in promoting firms to choose high⁃quality innovation mode.Enterprises that adopt a high⁃quality innovation mode are more likely to produce high⁃quality innovation achievements,enabling them to take the initiative in attacking and coping with competitors'attacks and ensuring their success in innovation competition.Enterprises that choose a low⁃quality innovation mode are more likely to produce low⁃quality innovation achievements,rendering them susceptible to competitors'attacks and incapable of effectively countering such attacks.Consequently,they are more likely to lose in innovation competition.Enterprises with insufficient technical and financial strength are unable to fight back against the patent attacks by competitors,and the value of their low⁃quality innovation achievements will be gradually eliminated in the innovation competition,leading to the gradual weakening of their technical position.Enterprises with strong technical and capital strength can introduce technology to solve urgent problems and choose a high⁃quality innovation mode to fundamentally change their passive situation in innovation competition.The value of
