Angiogenesis is a critical process in various physiological and pathological events, especially in the initiation and progression of tumors.Recent evidence suggests that endothelial progenitor cell(EPC)plays a significant role in the formation of tumor endothelial cell(TEC)and is crucial in the formation of tumor vasculature,as well as in tumor growth and metastasis.Additionally, extensive research indicates that EPCs and their associated signaling pathways and growth factors could be a breakthrough in finding better methods of tumor treatment. Therefore, this article reviews the current understanding of EPCs and their interaction with tumor development and progression, particularly their role in tumor angiogenesis. It also summarizes and discusses the relevance of EPCs to current cancer treatment approaches and the significance of combining these two in advancing cancer therapies, emphasizing the importance of further understanding EPCs and their interactions with tumors.
