摘　　要：英国教育家利文斯通曾先后任职于牛津大学基督圣体学院与贝尔法斯特女王大学,他在大学教育方面有着丰富的理论与实践经验。利文斯通关于大学教育的论述体现在他的著作与演讲中,他认为大学是现代文明的中心和传递真理的殿堂,大学教育的功用在于培养合格的社会公民、具有理性精神的人和道德高尚的青年。然而,大学教育也存在不少问题,如大学课程缺乏科学性、大学考试内容欠合理、大学教学方式需改革等。利文斯通提出通过优化大学课程和考试内容、转变古典教育教学方式完善大学教育。作为永恒主义教育思潮的代表人物,利文斯通的大学教育观具有明显的古典主义色彩。Livingstone is a British educator who once worked in Corpus Christi College of Oxford University and Queen’s University Belfast.He has rich experience in university education in theoretical and practical in theory and practice.Livingstone’s research on university education is reflected in his books and speeches.He believes that university is the center of modern civilization and the temple of truth transmission.The function of university education is to train qualified citizens,people with rational spirit and young people with noble morality.However,there are also many problems in university education,such as the unscientific curriculum,the improper content of examination and the urgent need for reform of some teaching methods.Livingstone proposed to improve university education by optimizing the content of university courses and examinations and transforming the teaching methods of classical education.As a representative of the Perennialism,Livingstone’s view on university education is obviously influenced by classicalism.
