摘  要:近代中国被迫进入西方国际法体系,使得晚清政府接触了领事保护制度,并从被动适应转变为主动实践。清政府主动利用领事保护发展南洋华侨教育就是这一过程的例证。晚清领事保护促进南洋华侨教育发展的目的在于增强南洋华侨的中华文化认同、改善南洋侨教生态、延续封建专制统治。经过清廷领事官员的努力,领事保护改善了南洋华侨教育生态并提振了华侨的中华文化自信。同时,这一实践也丰富了近代中国领事保护机制的内涵,为中国领事保护制度的发展奠定了基础。然而,清政府希望利用领事保护促进侨教以培养华侨效忠思想却事与愿违。在辛亥革命的浪潮中,接受近代教育的华侨子弟积极参与其中,最终埋葬了中国的封建专制制度。In the nineteenth century,China then was forced to be involved in the system of western international law,contacting with the consular protection system and transformed from passive adaptation to active practice.The initiative of the Qing Government to adopt consular protection to develop education for overseas Chinese in Southeast Asia was a typical example.To enhance the Chinese cultural identity of overseas Chinese,improve the ecology of overseas Chinese education and continue the feudal rule,the consuls in Southeast Asia were committed to promoting the prosperity of overseas Chinese education.Through these efforts,consular protection has made outstanding contri-butions,including improving the education ecology and cultural self-confidence of overseas Chinese in Southeast Asia,enriching the connotation of the modern Chinese consular protection mechanism and laying foundations for the development of China's consular protection system.However,this action was also destined to fail for its feudal backwardness.In the wave of the Revolution of 1911,overseas Chinese students actively participated in the overthrow of the Qing's feudal regime,and eventually buried China's feudal despotism.
