摘　　要：1引言现代性是一个百年话题,在不同历史阶段有不同的特征。现代性最重要的议题是如何面对过去。保罗·克利(PaulKlee)曾画过一幅名为《新天使》的名画,由瓦尔特·本雅明(Walter Benjamin)收藏,并跟随本雅明逃离纳粹的迫害,从法国穿越到西班牙的边境,在本雅明因绝望以自杀的方式告别世界后,这张画被他的朋友汉娜·阿伦特(Hannah Arendt)找到,最终收藏到以色列国家美术馆里。“保罗·克利的画作《新天使》,画的是一个天使看上去正要由他入神注视的事物离去。他凝视着前方,他的嘴微张,他的翅膀张开了。人们就是这样描绘历史天使的。他的脸朝着过去。在我们认为是一连串事件的地方,他看到的是一场单一的灾难。这场灾难堆积着尸,将它们抛弃在他的面前。天使想停下来唤醒死者,把破碎的世界修补完整。可是从天堂吹来了一阵风暴,它猛烈地吹击着天使的翅膀,以至他再也无法把它们收拢。这风暴无可抗拒地把天使刮向他背对着的未来,而他面前的残垣断壁却越堆越高,直逼天际。这场风暴就是我们所称的进步。”1Preface Modernity has been a century-long topic,characterized by different features in various historical stages.The most crucial issue of modernity is how to confront the past.Paul Klee once painted a renowned artwork titled Angelus Novus,which was collected by Walter Benjamin.Benjamin,fleeing from Nazi persecution,carried the painting from France through the Spanish border.After Benjamin bid farewell to the world through suicide in despair,the painting was found by his friend Hannah Arendt and eventually housed in the Israel Museum."A Klee painting named Angelus Novus shows an angel looking as though he is about to move away fromsomething he is fixedly contemplating.His eyes are staring,his mouth is open,his wings are spread.This is how one pictures the angel of history.His face is turned toward the past.Where we perceive a chain of events,he sees one single catastrophe which keeps piling wreckage upon wreckage and hurls it in front of his feet.The angel would like to stay,awaken the dead,and make whole what has been smashed.But a storm is blowing fromParadise;it has got caught in his wings with such violence that the angel can no longer close them.The storm irresistibly propels him into the future to which his back is turned,while the pile of debris before him grows skyward.This storm is what we call progress.
