Immigrant literature is now a high-profile literary phenomenon in the German literary.Sa?a Stani?i?won The German Book Prize 2019 for his autobiographical novel Where Am I From.It tells the story of the narrator“I”,who with his mother in 1992 immigrated to Heidelberg to escape the war in Bosnia and Herzegovina. The narrator's experience is a microcosm of the immigrant community, revealing the identity dilemmas faced by foreigners, which has strong relevance.Based on theory of identity hybridity and of cultural memory, this paper tries to explore the identity status of the narrator“I”.It is learned that his identity role undergoes a process of crisis to reconstruction, ultimately constructs a hybrid identity. But because of cultural memory, his original identity is awakened, presenting a contradictory state in this hybridity.
