Engraved blocks for prescription slips were utilized in ancient times to produce slips bearing medicine names, often used in religious rituals. This practice intertwines religious activities with traditional Chinese medicine(TCM), forming a important part of the Chinese medical culture. This tudy focuses on 10 engraved blocks from the late Qing Dynasty and early Republic of China period, found in the Yingtan Museum collection, featuring TCM prescriptions from the texts Prescriptions for Women and Prescriptions for Men. Drawing on previous research and recent data, the paper investigates the organization of engraving, geographical origins of the blocks, and variations in prescriptions. Given the limited research on prescription slips, particularly from the perspective of engraved blocks, this study fills a gap in scholarly understanding and may serve as a reference for comprehensive studies on similar artifacts nationwide.
