摘　　要：节奏变体是英语格律诗中一种常见现象,指的是诗行中与特定诗歌的基本节奏不同的局部变化。节奏变体有偶发型和密集型之分。前者往往只是诗人利用诗歌的游戏规则偶然形成的节奏变化,而后者则多是诗人为实现特定的艺术目的而精心设计的表现手段。就翻译而言,偶发型的节奏变体,可以无需考虑,但对密集型的节奏变体,就没有理由回避了,否则必然会造成艺术上的亏损。但以往的诗歌翻译及研究均没有关注节奏变体这一现象,因此所有带有密集型节奏变体的英语格律诗在译成汉语后,均未呈现出这一艺术特征。本文将聚焦这一主题,结合实际的诗歌翻译来探讨如何在翻译中妥善地处理这一问题。Metrical variations are a common phenomenon in English metrical poetry,referring to local changes in poetical lines that differ from the basic metre of a particular poem.They can occur accidentally or intensively in a poem.The accidental ones are often just a few rhythmic changes caused by the poet's utilization of the game rules of poetry,while the intensive ones are mostly the expressive means carefully designed by the poet to achieve a specific artistic purpose.As far as translation is concerned,the accidental variations can be ignored,but for the intensive ones,there is no reason to avoid them,otherwise the translation will inevitably fail to represent the artistic value loaded in them.However,previous poetry translation and research have paid no attention at all to this issue,so that all English metrical poems with intensive metrical variations have not represented this artistic feature in their Chinese translations.This paper will focus on this issue,and discuss how to handle it properly in poetry translation.
