Objective To study the relationship between serum 25-hydroxyvitamin D levels and cognitive function and disability in multiple sclerosis(MS).Methods 40 MS patients who were admitted to the People's Hospital of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region from October 2021 to October 2023 were collected as the observation group, and 40 healthy volunteers matched for gender and age were included as the healthy control group.Serum 25-hydroxyvitamin was tested.D level detection, while using the Montreal Cognitive Assessment Scale(MoCA)and the Symbol-Digital Transition Test(SDMT)to evaluate the patient's cognitive function, using the Extended Functional Disability Status Scale(EDSS)to evaluate the patient's disability, and analyzing serum 25-hydroxy The relationship between vitamin D levels and the two. Results The serum 25-hydroxyvitamin D level of the observation group was(15.28±5.60)ng/mL,which was lower than that of the healthy control group(23.58±3.28)ng/mL.The 25-hydroxyvitamin D level in MS patients showed a significant positive correlation with the SDMT score,a significant positive correlation with the MoCA score, and a significant negative correlation with the EDSS score. Conclusion Vitamin D deficiency in MS patients may be one of the influencing factors leading to cognitive dysfunction, and the progression of functional disability in MS patients may also be related to vitamin D deficiency.
