中国文学英译自改和他改研究——基于《海上花列传》句法复杂度的考察

摘　　要：本文基于张爱玲《海上花列传》英译手稿、发表稿和孔慧怡修改稿语料库,以14个句法复杂度指标为切入点,探索中国文学英译自改和他改的特征和规律。结果显示,张爱玲自改中呈现一定的简化趋势,孔慧怡他改中简化趋势增强,主要体现在句子整体复杂度下降、单位长度缩短等。修改过程中的简化现象提高了文本可读性,有助于更加细致地刻画人物形象。本文旨在为中国文学英译以及翻译修改共性研究提供借鉴和参考。Based on the translation manuscript,the published version by Eileen Chang and Eva Hung's revised version of The Sing-song Girls of Shanghai,this paper takes syntactic complexity as a measure to investigate translators'self-revision and other-revision in English translation of Chinese literature from the directions of in-translating and out-translating.It's found that both translators'self-revision and other-revision present certain tendency of simplifica-tion,which improves the readability of translation;meanwhile,both present a tendency of explicitation,which makes the character more vivid.Based on the discussion on the revision of language features,this paper is hoped to provide an insight into the English translation of Chinese literature.
