Subsequent to May Fourth,Eroshenko,a Russian writer, was introduced to China by Lu Xun and Hu Yuzhi, causing attention to be paid to him.Not limited to the world of letters on China'Mainland, his sphere of influence also spread to the world of thought and culture in Taiwan Region. In the 1920s and 1930s,Taiwan's Esperanto magazine,Green Shade,The Taiwan-Minpo,an enlightenment magazine, and Southern Sounds,a magazine rich with literary rural colours, had all translated and introduced works by Eroshenko.Taiwan's acceptance of Eroshenko was a result of being influenced by Lu Xun but it was also because of the significance of enlightenment Eroshenko had in resolving the internal problems of Taiwan Region.Eroshenko was an Esperantoist,an anarchist and was also concerned with the fate of weak nations or races. All that resonated with the intellectuals in Taiwan Region, becoming the thought resource for them in opposing colonialism and engaging in leftwing cultural movement.
