摘　　要：马礼逊身为来华的欧洲传教士,不受中土传统理念的约束,注重实用、教育和启蒙的原则,所编《华英字典》既收释词,也收释习语俗谚,在某种程度上揭示了汉语以字贯通词语的特征,从中既可见口语语辞到书面语文辞的发展,也可见书面语文辞在口语语辞中的演变,在辞书编纂和汉语研究上皆有其独到建树。As a European missionary who came to China,Morrison was not bound by the traditional Chinese ideas,and focused on principles of practicality,education and enlightenment.A Dictionary of the Chinese Language which he complied includes not only words,but also idioms and proverbs,as well as revealing the features of Chinese characters linking words and phrases to some extent.From it,we can see the development of spoken language to written language,and it can also be seen the evolution of written language in spoken language,showing unique achievements in lexicography and Chinese language research.
