Using Dagum Gini coefficient formula and related models, the differences between urban and rural areas formed in the current domestic vegetation cover change were discussed, and the current domestic ecological security assessment system in depth was analyzed. The results showed that the differences in vegetation coverage between different regions in China were gradually decreasing, with the internal differences formed in the eastern region gradually increasing. In the process of development, the gap between different regions in China had gradually increased, and the regional development trend had decreased or not formed the difference. The test of the ecological security effect of vegetation cover in the process of urban-rural differentiation showed that the quality of urban-rural differentiation had a significant positive impact on the ecological security effect of vegetation cover, and could effectively promote the ecological security effect of vegetation cover in the process of urban-rural development.Based on analysis, strategies for improving vegetation coverage levels were proposed, which involved leveraging the agglomeration effect of urban-rural clusters and promoting balanced development of vegetation coverage.
