“和平哲学”抑或“战争艺术”?——汉学家雷敦和、麦安迪《淮南子·兵略》译介比较研究

摘　　要：和平与战争原本是两个对立的概念,当代两位西方汉学家却分别以“和平哲学”与“战争艺术”为主题,对汉初重要的军事文献《淮南子·兵略》进行了译介。雷敦和从和平研究的视角出发,利用现代西方话语,将《兵略》中的战争思想阐释为“和平哲学”,目的在于对当今西方和平建设理论与实践进行反思;麦安迪从思想史研究的视角出发,将《兵略》还原到四重语境之中,追求对原典原意的解读,旨在通过对中国传统典籍的研究来为认识与理解现代中国提供依据。尽管两人的译本呈现出截然不同的阐释路径与文化取向,但他们对《兵略》中反对侵略战争、追求和平秩序、重视民众利益等核心思想的认识是一致的。两位西方学者的《兵略》译介,对西方加深对中国古代军事思想的认识,增进中西方文化之间的交流互鉴具有积极意义,同时也为现阶段中国古代典籍外译以及中华传统思想现代化诠释提供了借鉴。Peace and war are two opposite concepts.With“peace philosophy”and“art of war”as the theme respectively,two contemporary Western sinologists translated and introduced the important military document Binglue written in the early Han dynasty to the English-speaking world.From the perspective of peace studies and based on the Western discourse,Edmund Ryden interpreted the military thinking in Binglue as a peace philosophy by which to rethink the current Western peace studies and practice.From the perspective of intellectual history research,Andrew Meyer restored the four-fold historical context of the Binglue to interpret the original meaning of the text,with a purpose to provide the basis for understanding modern China.Although the two versions are different in interpretation approach and cultural orientation,their understandings to the core ideas of the text,such as opposing aggressive war,pursuing peaceful order and attaching importance to people's interests,are not different.The two English versions can improve the understanding of the ancient Chinese thoughts of war and peace in the English-speaking world,promote the cultural communication between the East and the West,and provide reference for the translation of ancient Chinese classics and the creative transformation of the traditional Chinese ideas in contemporary time.
