摘　　要：When snacking on a favorite food,we seldom wonder how it came about.Truth be told,some popularfoods and drinks were created by accident.Take potato chips,for example.They were invented in1853 bya chef whose customer kept complaining that the French fries were too thick.Frustrated,the chef,George Crum,cut the potatoes paper thin and fried them until they became crispy.After sprinkling on some salt,he sent them to the customer.To Crum's surprise,the customer loved them,and the rest is history.当我们吃着喜爱的食物时,很少会去想那是怎么来的。事实上,一些受大众欢迎的食物和饮料都是偶然创造出来的。以薯片为例。薯片是一位厨师在1853年意外发明的。当时那名厨师的一位客人一直抱怨薯条太厚,厨师乔治·克鲁姆感到很沮丧,于是把马铃薯切得跟纸一样薄,炸到酥脆,撒上一些盐之后,再把食物送去给客人。让他意想不到的是,那位客人非常喜欢,剩下的故事就不用赘述了。
