口述史法在科技典籍英译文献采集中的应用——以《考工记》英译者赫尔曼为例

摘　　要：系统、全面的中国古代科技典籍英译文献搜集、整理和研究理应包括口述类文献。我国出版的赫尔曼(Konrad Herrmann)《考工记》英译本于2020年再次在海外联合出版,并获得国际科技史专业人士的好评,从而助力了中国古代科技文明在西方的传播。基于口述科技史的学理依据和方法论,文章对赫尔曼教授展开访谈,解蔽其学术背景和中国古代科技译事,并重点请其忆及《考工记》翻译和出版历程。这些口述史料有助于丰富科技典籍英译文献,增进学界对这位中国古代科技翻译家的了解,并促进对其译作学术价值的深入研究。The systematic and comprehensive collection,collation and studying of literature on English translation of Chinese scientific and technological classics should cover the oral forms.The English version of Kao Gong Ji translated by Konrad Herrmann(initially published in China)was co-published internationally in 2020.It then enjoyed a favorable reception among scholars in the area of history of science and technology,contributing significantly to the international circulation of Chinese science and civilization.By drawing on the methodology of oral history of science and technology,this paper interviews Prof.Konrad Herrmann to uncover his academic background and achievements in rendering Chinese science and technology,and discusses the issues of Kao Gong Ji throughout the translation and publication process.All these efforts are conducive to enriching the extant literature on English translation of Chinese scientific and technological classic,enhancing the understanding of this translator and promoting the in-depth study of the academic values of his translated Kao Gong Ji.
