魏晋南北朝研究的文学与校雠——从王仲荦与南京大学中文系之关系说起

摘  要:魏晋南北朝史的研究,由于时代的特殊性,呈现出不同于秦汉或隋唐的性质。与后世重视的史识、史实抑或史德相比,魏晋南北朝“修史”更加重视的是史“笔”———即“文”也。本文选取王仲荦(1913-1986)名著《魏晋南北朝史》为研究对象,着重探讨如下三个问题:第一、在“史学大家”与“淹通文史”两种身份认同之间,包含“文”的后者更为重要;第二、文献校雠是与史学著作并行不悖的工作;第三、王仲荦是章太炎高门弟子,学术自有传承。其中,早年王仲荦与南京大学中文系的关系,已经透射出文史兼通的治学特色,而《魏晋南北朝史》对于《木兰诗》《拟怀古》等南北朝作品的分析,更是这一特色的具体展现。同时,王仲荦对于《南齐书》的校勘,与域外荻生徂徕批识有暗合之处,也贯彻了章太炎的“五朝学”理念。The studies of Wei,Jin,Northern and Southern dynasties show characteristics different from those of the Qin-Han or Sui-Tang dynasties,which attach more importance to style of writing on historiography.This paper focuses on the famous work A History of the Wei,Jin,Northern and Southern Dynasties by Wang Zhongluo,and discusses the following three issues:first,comparing the two identities of“great historian”and“mastery over both literature and history”,the latter containing“writing”is more important;second,textual criticism and historiography are parallel works;thirdly,as a disciple of Zhang Taiyan,Wang Zhongluo owns his academic inheritance.And his relation with Department of Literature,Nanjing University in his early years had reflected the academic characteristics of integrating literature and history,which concretely expressed in the analysis of the literary works in the Southern and Northern dynasties such as“The Song of Mulan”in A History of the Wei,Jin,Northern and Southern Dynasties.Meanwhile,Wang Zhongluo's notes of collation on The Book of Northern Qi somehow coincide with the notes of OgyūSorai,and the former also implemented Zhang Taiyan's idea on the studies of the Five dynasties.
