入乎其内,出乎其外——黄宏荃《英译宋代词选》中的“心译”法解析

摘　　要：作为一名被遮蔽的翻译家,黄宏荃的代表性译作《英译宋代词选》还未引起学界应有的重视。论文旨在探讨黄宏荃在《英译宋代词选》中提出的“心译”法,结合书中的大量译例,分析其具体表现,主要包括:(1)撰写导言与注释,为译文读者提供解读语境;(2)添加具体词汇,烘托原作的情感氛围;(3)充分利用英语形合特征,打造地道译文;(4)采用各种变通手段,译出原作的精神与韵味。黄宏荃的“心译”法对中国古典诗词以及整个文学翻译不无启发,译者唯有全身心地投入翻译,方能产出精品译文。Huang Hongquan,as a translator is underestimated,and so is his translated masterpiece Anthology of Song-Dynasty Ci-poetry.This paper aims to explore Huang’s translation view of“translating with heart”proposed in this anthology by analyzing its specific manifestations with a large number of examples.Those manifestations are roughly summarized as follows:(1)writing a long introduction and 1281 notes to provide a rich context for the target readers;(2)adding many specific words to explicate or enhance the emotional atmosphere of the original;(3)taking advantage of the hypotaxis nature of English to make the target language sound natural and idiomatic;(4)adopting many other flexible translation methods,such as explicitation,adjustment of sentential orders,addition of rhetorical devices and so on,to convey or enhance the artistic conception of the original.Huang’s view of“translating with heart”might shed some light on the translation of classical Chinese poetry,inspiring the translator to put his heart and soul into translation and produce high-quality translated works.
