The concept that Dao follows nature is the essence of Laozi’s philosophy, which has an important influence on Taijiquan and its rules. The tenets of the Taijiquan rules,in spite of its many different sects, remain basically the same as the following:avoiding arrogance and impetuosity while maintaining humbleness and reverence, abstention from desires, persistence, revering the master and his teaching, and loyalty, filial piety and patriotism.Dao following nature is fundamentally practised as non-doing,non-vying and staying with weakness. These principles have an important impact on the theories, techniques and tactics of Taijiquan, and a subtle influence on the formation of Taiji concepts of humility and respect, and abstention from desires. The proposition that Dao follows nature emphasizes care as much to the end as to the beginning in practice, which is embodied in the concept of persistence of the Taijiquan sect rules. It is also an pedagogical issue in a developmental sense, which is extended to be the concept of Dao as master, and,in turn, the concept of revering the master and his teaching, the theoretical basis for Taijiquan.
