With the acceleration of industrialization, atmospheric CO_(2)concentrations continue to rise, exacerbating global climate change. As an important way to achieve carbon neutrality, marine carbon sinks have important ecological and economic value. The carbon sequestration capacity of macroalgae in marine ecosystems has great potential to mitigate global climate change, and the photosynthetic response of seaweeds is susceptible to a variety of environmental factors such as CO_(2)concentration,salinity,temperature,light intensity and light quality. In order to make the necessary reserves for follow-up research and continuously optimize the cultivation technology of seaweed, this review comprehensively compiles the latest information on the photosynthetic physiological characteristics of macroalgae based on the changes of the above five environmental factors, and analyzes the main characteristics of the photosynthetic response mechanisms of different algae. There is not a single linear relationship between the growth rate of seaweed and the concentration supply of various environmental factors, but has a certain threshold. In the face of environmental stress, algae will activate certain regulatory mechanisms to maintain their normal growth.
