从《东方造园论》和英国早期使团的中国园林书写看中国形象的变迁

摘　　要：18世纪后期到19世纪初,随着英中交流的渐进发展,中国形象在英国的接受历经重要变迁,以往欧洲传教士所塑造的东方文明古国的中国形象在英国旅华游记中不断被消解。中国园林是既往书写里中国文化的重要代表元素,也是英国旅华游记对中国形象的消解中最晚涉及的部分。探究中国园林形象在这些记录中的变迁,可以窥见英国社会对清朝态度的微妙而复杂的转变,该变化是由英国在此特殊历史时期的社会整体想象以及英国身份意识的不断高涨所推动的。From the late 18th century to the early 19th century,with the development of exchanges between Britain and China,the image of China in Britain underwent important changes.The image of China as an ancient Eastern civilization created by the Jesuits was gradually changed by the travel writings produced by the British who had been to China.The Chinese garden once was an important representative element of Chinese culture in the past writings,and it was also the latest part involved in the new image of China in the British travel writings.Exploring the changes in the image of Chinese gardens in these records,we can glimpse the subtle and complex changes in the attitude of British society towards China,which was driven by the overall imagination of British society and the rising consciousness of British identity in this special historical period.
