摘　　要：在《小说面面观》中,福斯特突出了小说的艺术弹性,认为小说作为一种艺术形式具有适应不同时代需求和情感的能力。这一理念对小说的故事、人物和主题等拓展性创作提出了要求,强调了创作者需要在叙述中持续扩展并寻找新的敏感性。他的“扩展”观念呼吁小说家在创作中抛弃结构限制,不断发展和丰富故事,赋予小说更大的自由和深度。福斯特的思想对20世纪文学批评产生了深远影响,使《小说面面观》成为当今广泛研究的文学经典。In Aspects of the Novel,Forster highlights the artistic elasticity of the novel,asserting that it possesses the ability to adapt to the demands and emotions of different eras as a form of art.This concept imposes requirements on the expansive creation of novels,encompassing elements such as narratives,characters,themes,etc.It emphasizes that creators need to continuously expand and explore new sensitivities in narrations.Forster's idea of"expansion"advocates that novelists should abandon structural constraints,urging them to continually develop and enrich their stories,thereby granting novels greater freedom and depth.Forster's insights had a profound impact on literary criticism in the 20th century,making Aspects of the Novel a widely-studied literary classic.
