译者、评者与读者:苏童在英语世界接受的三维透视  

Translators,Critics,and Readers:the Three-dimensional Perspective Received by Su Tong in the English-speaking World

摘　　要：基于译者、评者、读者三个不同维度,对苏童小说英译本进行深入考察。苏童小说英译本的两位主要译者采用了不同的翻译策略,但都还原了小说的故事情节和主题思想,扩大了苏童作品在海外的传播度。国外评者主要从写作话题和小说风格两方面对苏童作品进行了专业评价,皆以肯定为主。在读者方面,苏童小说在外文网站上的好评居多,表现出海外英语读者对苏童作品的喜爱。苏童作品在西方世界成功传播的因素有三:作品本身的内容符合西方读者的阅读兴趣、知名汉学家和翻译学家出色翻译的推动、企鹅和莫洛等海外著名出版机构的助力。苏童作品的成功外译,可以给中国文学作品走出国门提供有益的借鉴和启示。Based on the three different dimensions of translators,critics,and readers,the English translation of Su Tong’s novels was deeply examined.The two main English translators of Su Tong’s novels adopted two different translation strategies,but both of them restored the plot and theme of the original novels.To a certain extent,their translation expanded the circle of Su Tong’s works overseas.Foreign critics mainly evaluated Su Tong’s works professionally from the two aspects of writing topics and novel style with a largely positive view.In terms of readers,Su Tong’s novels are mostly well received on foreign websites and loved by English readers overseas.There are three factors for the successful spread of Su Tong’s works in the Western world:the content of the works themselves conforms to the reading interests of Western readers,the promotion of excellent translations by well-known sinologists and translators,and the support of well-known overseas publishing institutions such as Penguin and Morrow.The successful translation of Su Tong’s works can provide useful reference and inspiration for Chinese literary works to go abroad.
